I am often contacted by people in Japan who want to enjoy a holiday in Australia. If you have a Japanese passport, getting a visa for this purpose is not so difficult. But, if you do not have a Japanese passport, this can be a little more challenging.
For these sorts of applications, we need to show reasonable evidence that you will be a genuine temporary entrant. This means that you will enjoy a holiday in Australia, leave Australia as planned, and, generally speaking, not try to stay in Australia beyond the time that you are allowed to. To provide this evidence takes some preparation, and some time.
So, if you ever decide you would like to visit Australia for a holiday, or see friends/family, please remember to plan early for your visa. It could take up to a month to prepare such an application, and the processing time, at the Department of Home Affairs, might take a few weeks as well.
And, if you want to travel to Australia for a reason other than a holiday, make sure to apply for the most appropriate visa for the purpose of your visit. If you intend to work in Australia, or live there permanently, then a different visa will be better for you.
Reach out to me through my contact page, if you have any questions or you would like to talk to me about getting a visa to visit Australia. I am a registered migration agent, with over 15 years’ experience, and I assist many residents of Japan with either temporary visits, or permanent moves, to Australia.
