Skills in Shortage Series – Developer Programmer

This is the first in a planned series of posts about skills in shortage in Australia. Please remember that skills in shortage do change over time – so it is important to always check the status of your occupation with a registered migration agent, before starting along any migration or visa application journey!

The occupation for today is ‘Developer Programmer’. So, what does a ‘Developer Programmer’ do? According to the ANZSCO occupation dictionary, a ‘Developer Programmer’ is a type of Software and Application Programmer, who does, among other things, the following:

  • Interprets specifications, technical designs, and flow charts
  • Builds, maintains, and modifies the code for software applications
  • Constructs technical specifications, including cyber security, from a business functional model
  • Tests and writes technical documentation.

According to current (at the date of posting) information from Jobs and Skills Australia, there is a shortage of people who are able to work in this occupation in every state of Australia except New South Wales.

Do you work in Information Technology in Japan, and are you interested in migrating to Australia? If so, keep me in mind as a registered migration agent specializing in supporting people in Japan. There are many other IT occupations that need skilled people in Australia – I will be covering more of these in future ‘Skills in Shortage’ series posts.

Don’t forget to follow me on Facebook! Also, let me know if there are any particular occupations that interest you.

I am a professional with many interests, and one of them is to act as a bridge between Japan and Australia. I am an Australian Registered Migration Agent, and, in this capacity, I have spent many years helping people in Japan move to Australia, visit Australia, or maintain permanent residence rights in Australia.
